Executive Summary

 I have over 50 years’ experience in manufacturing. Starting as an apprentice toolmaker leading to my current position as director of Keith Monaghan Consulting. This included over 20 years in tier one suppliers to the automotive industry in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Management roles. Approx.10 years in the commercial furniture and seating systems industry as National Product Development Manager and Quality Management. The final 19 years as General Manager running a diversified manufacturing group.  I am now utilizing those skills gained, in my consulting company.

 

My skill set covers the development and implementation of manufacturing, quality and process systems to produce parts ranging from gears for a watch to 200 plus tonne power transformers.  This covered the development of the manufacturing systems, tool design, machine and process specification, capital purchases and installation, quality systems development, JIT process development and implementation, Lean and Six Sigma implementation, Safety system development and implementation, product design and development, customer liaison and the day-to-day general management of an organization.

Achievement; Lead in setting up a plastic moulding factory from a green field site. Including machine purchasing and installation, sourcing suitable staff, sourcing the raw material supply and setting up the required safety systems.

A diversified manufacturing organization specialising in composite moulding, plastic moulding both thermoset and thermo plastics, metal pressing and processing and complex assemblies.

The development of overseas suppliers for both raw material and machinery.

Tier One suppliers to the automotive industries

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering management.

Implementation of the production process for new products including process development, capital specification, Capital assessment and purchase.  Liaise with the 5 Australian car manufacturers in relation to the quality and supply of their products.

Involvement in the development and implementation of the accredited quality systems, the conversion of the manufacturing system to a Just In Time (JIT) system. 

Achievement; Toyota stated that the JIT system was the best they had assessed outside of Japan.

 

Office furniture manufacture and fit out.

Companies; Sturdy Holdings and Carmen Furniture.

National Product Development and Quality Manager.

Run the product development departments with the development of new seating systems, furniture systems and partition system.

Develop and implement the 3rd party accredited quality systems.  The first furniture company to have a Quality system accredited to AS3901 design level.
